The 90+ Brain donation program is focused on collecting and studying brains from individuals who are 90 years or older. The goal of this study is to determine factors associated with longevity and cognitive health in advanced age.
Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center
(ADRC – UCI Mind)
The Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC) collects and studies brains from individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and other related dementias, as well as from healthy older adults. This research focuses on identifying the pathological and molecular changes associated with Alzheimer’s to improve diagnosis, prevention, and treatment.
Psychiatric Brain Donation Program
Lead by Dr. William Bunney, the psychiatric brain donation program collects and studies brains from those diagnosed with bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder, schizophrenia, or suicidal ideations. Their research aims to uncover the neurobiological underpinnings of these neuropsychiatric disorders to advance treatment and understanding.
