Together, Let’s Transform Neuroscience Research

Welcome to UC Irvine’s Brain Initiative Cell Atlas Network Brain Donation Program (BICAN) website.

We are a part of the BRAIN initiative, which is a national network of researchers and neurobanks that are working to establish a collection of healthy, normal brain donations that represent the demographic diversity in the US for human brain mapping projects

The goal of the BICAN initiative is to develop the world’s most comprehensive atlas of the cells found within our brain.

Using this brain atlas, we hope to gain more insight into human neurological development and the aging process, as well as improve our understanding of how the human brain works and how different diseases or conditions affect it.
